It has been two years since China entered the Word Trade Organization in 2001. While The Chinese government has been so conscientious in implementing the promises China has undertaken, and has kept opening to the outside world, its reform has been further deepened and her market economy system has been continuously improved. Thus the economy and social affairs of the whole country has witnessed a rapid and constant development.

    During this period of time, Guangdong,as one of the largest provinces in China in economic and trade growth, has been firmly carrying out the unified policy of the central government , and the province has also contributed a lot to the implementation of the promises China has undertaken in the reform of the government function , in optimization of the investment environment as well as in opening to the outside world , etc.

    In order to help the WTO members to understand our current situation and to assist the exchanges of ideas and information among the members, this booklet, edited by the Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Guangdong Province, consists of five parts, such as the profile of Guangdong, China, the Pattern of Opening-up, the Development of the Market Economy, the Implementation of Commitments, and the Responsible organizations.
